I knew that it would happen sooner or later but the week finally came where the reality of life hit and for the first time since I started my journey with Nurtisytem, while I didn’t gain any weight, I reached a plateau where I didn’t lose any either which meant now was the time to dig even deeper and get right back up on the horse and not give up.
It may have had something to do with the fact that I was at Walt Disney World this week for the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration and let’s face it, I’ve never been able to resist a churro. Or it could just be that like everyone, there are just those weeks that for whatever the reason, your body reaches a point where you don’t lose weight that week, no matter what you do but as I’ve learned since I started doing this, this is a journey and slow and steady wins the race. It’s a marathon not a sprint and as with any race, there are going to be some spots where you slow down which doesn’t mean the race is over or lost, it just means you have to dig a little deeper and stay the course.
Disney is known for it’s Healthy Eating Initiative so at no time did I lack for healthy food choices. There was always an abundance of fresh fruits, salads. veggies and other choices that made it very easy to stick with the plan. Add in the fact that days in the Parks meant 8-10 miles or more of walking each day and making sure my bottle of water was never out of reach, it was actually quite easy to keep it to “business as usual” so to speak. But flying cross country and complete and total exhaustion can take a toll on anyone and the important thing to realize is that it happens to all of us and luckily tomorrow is a brand new day.
Instead of dwelling on not losing weight this week, I chose to celebrate being half-way through and focus on the victories that have happened since beginning my Nurtisytem journey.
This week I have made the choice to go back to the Turboshakes, and a box of NutriCrush® shakes to help point my body in the right direction and while I’ll all still enjoy all the fabulous food – where else could you eat pizza, pasta, cinnamon rolls, and ice cream and have it be a part of a diet plan, I may up my walking and maybe even some extra dancing to help point my body in the right direction.
But the most important thing that I have learned throughout all of this is to not let this week’s setback derail the last six weeks, but rather serve as a reminder as to how far I’ve come and that I can do it.
My twenty pound weight loss goal is still within reach and fully obtainable, I just need to remember that each day is a new day and that’s how I will get there-one day at a time.
” Set yourself a goal, and do it. Even if it’s something as simple as walking up the stairs without getting winded, make it happen. Each accomplishment, no matter how small, helps you build towards the great ones.”
